Ventriloquist Wanlu Takes Top Prize

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Our friend Wanlu has been competeing in the Phillipines version of America’s Got Talent called ” Talentadong Pinoy” Wanlu had to compete in five episodes and in each episode he had to use a different figure.

He won each episode as he went along and last night he won the fifth and final to take the grand prize. This feat has only been done by one other act, an acrobatic team, and it is only the second time anyone has done this in the three years that the show has been on TV.

Wanlu has said that he has become somewhat of a celebrity because now when he goes shopping with his family he is surrounded by folks asking for autographs .

I think this is stupendous for him and want to wish him all the best and hope you get to perform and let the rest of the world see your talents.

Here is a link to his fourth win and as soon as his winning performance is available I will try to post it for you all to see!

Way to go Wanlu!!

Steve Axtell in England

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Some of you may know that Steve Axtell was in England recently and he posted this information on the Ventriloquist Central Forum:

“I just put up a 20 min video of my kid show in
England at the convention. The first half I’m
doing vent with my Toucan Puppet and the second
half is the Hands-Free Animatronic Toucan using
pre-recorded MagicTrax and the Drawing Board. I
could have done vent all the way but wanted to
demonstrate the MagicTrax concept to the Magicians at the convention.

There is also a review of Martin Duffy’s interview with me.

Enjoy!”

Thanks, Steve for sharing this with everyone. I highly recommend you watch this…it’s very good!

Articles About Ventriloquists And Ventriloquism

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

With the current popularity of Jeff Dunham and his Comedy Central deal, along with Terry Fator performing at the Mirage in Las Vegas, articles about ventriloquists and ventriloquism seem to be everywhere.

Over the past few days I saw these articles and in case you missed them, thought I would share them with the Ventriloquist Central readers.

This is a nice article about Dave Parker of Marquette, MI.

Ventriloquist, dummies entertain at Arenac Eastern

Next up is a wonderful article about Edgar Bergen and Charile McCarthy and their radio days:

Contemporary Collectibles: Charlie McCarthy was no dummy

Last, but certainly not least is an article and video about a regular contributor to Ventriloquist Central, Val Hilliker and her work with the Virtues Project:

Character Education through ventriloquism

I hope you enjoy these articles.
