Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, From Ventriloquist Central

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Back in 2006, when Steve and I decided to put together this website, we never imagined how popular Ventriloquist Central would become. Sure, we wanted to supply everyone with information dealing with ventriloquists and ventriloquism, but didn’t think it would take off the way it has. In fact, below is proof:

google-insights-ventriloquist-central

This is a screen shot of just one of the tools Steve uses to see how the site is doing. It’s a tool called Google Insights and as you can see for the past two years, Ventriloquist Central is “breaking out” in the rising searches category.

We just want to say a big ‘THANK YOU” to all of you who support and visit this website. We’re glad you are enjoying Ventriloquist Central.

Also, you may have noticed that we are starting to accept sponsorship (or advertising) on this site. Even though we started Ventriloquist Central as a “labor of love” the popularity of the site has started to create extra costs for us to keep it going.

If you want to get on board with our popularity and advertise your goods or services, please take time to check out this page:

Sponsorship Opportunities

Once again, thanks so much for all your support.

New Informational Video For Ventriloquist Central

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

I know some that visit the blog have it bookmarked in their favorites and may not actually visit the home page of Ventriloquist Central. I decided to do an informational video that lets visitors know a quick overview of Ventriloquist Central and at the same time shows everyone a sampling of my ventriloquist figure collection.

We’ve put this video on the home page, but for those of you that haven’t seen it, here it is:

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Also, in case you don’t know, tomorrow (Sunday) night is the premiere of Jeff Dunham’s Christmas Special on Comedy Central (check your local listings). You won’t want to miss it.

Ventriloquist Central Celebrates Two Years

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

I must say it is astounding to me to realize that 2 years has now come and gone since Steve Hurst and I decided to start VentriloquistCentral the web site. I never would have believed that this site would grow to become one of the focal point in ventriloquism. I originally just wanted to showcase my collection but things blossomed and here we are.

I want to thank every person out there who has made contributions to the site because without you we never could present the information that you find contained within the pages of this site. PLEASE… continue to send in those articles and if you have not done so and you have something you think everyone would like to read send it in. We will get it posted.

This year some of the fantastic things that Ventriloquist Central was able to do was to present to the public some great interviews done by Val Hiliker and Lee Dunn with Terry Fator. This was something we were very proud to be able to share with you all.

I was able, with the help of my wife Helen, to get a very personal interview with Ronn Lucas and got to go behind the scenes at his Las Vegas show and take some great pictures to share with you folks.

Ventriloquist Central was proud to produce an exact replica of a Frank Marshall Nosey figure. That was a big challenge which came out terrific.

We were able to promote Greg Claasen’s fantastic book “McElroy Magic” about building McElroy style figures.

Kenny Warren’s fantastic treatise on ventriloquism is now available only through Ventriloquist Central.

I have had visits from Bob Carroll, Mike Robinson, and Bob Abdou to see my collection of ventriloquist figures and do hope that if you are in the Boston area you will contact me to also come and see the collection.

And to finally sum up, I want to thank everyone who comes to Ventriloquist Central to just look around at all we have to offer. Everyone of you have made this web site into the place for everything that has to do with ventriloquism. It has been a pleasure for both Steve and me and we do hope you continue to come to our place.

Ventriloquist Central Forum

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Steve and I have had quite a bit of trouble with the forum on VentriloquistCentral.com. Therefore to remedy this situation we have decided to use the Yahoo group for our forum.

We spent too much time trying to keep our forum up and running but we were losing many posts from people and also spam was driving us crazy. So this was the way to remedy the situation.

Everyone is familiar with the Yahoo groups and how they run so this will be an easy transition for everyone.

I hope that you all will decide to join and take advantage of a great place to talk ventriloquism. Of course I will continue to post on my blog and your comments are always welcome there too.

Hard Figure vs Soft Figure

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

I don’t know if it is this site or not but after running the latest poll right here on my blog asking hard or soft figures, it seems that you, the readers, are overwhelmingly in favor of the hard figure. At 82% over 18% clearly the hard figure wins this competition.

I have said many times that I love the hard figure and a mark of the true ventriloquist is a hard figure. Puppeteers use soft figures and that is not bad but I just love hard figures.

On another note I asked for some help on the Forum so please take a few minutes to go and take a look and maybe you can be of some help for identification and help for the Tribute to Ventriloquism pages.

It would be greatly appreciated. The Forum has been overlooked but I believe that it is a very valuable asset to Ventriloquist Central and I do hope more of you will join in and ask or answer questions.

It seems that the summer doldrums are upon us since the ConVENTion and there really isn’t much going on right now but if you have anything exciting to report we are always happy to put it out there for you.
