Presley said "Looking back over the last 20 years I guess the guy I've admired most in rock 'n' roll is Buddy Holly". Johnny Main, John Osborne, Al Farber, Pat Stilwell, myself and others as kids were greatly influenced by Lester, Marshall and Berger, our vent heros, at the 1955 IBV Pittsburgh convention. We all went our separate ways, but things appreciated stay with you. I remember the basic principles of good design learned in art studies at college: simplicity, meaning, emphasis, balance and rhythm, repetition by motif, focal point, and which apply not only to visual art but to music and to vent as well, but like faith, hope, charity which is the greatest, so too simplicity stands out. Many of my figures have moving eyes and raising eyebrows but I rarely use these movements. My goof "Elwood" is a true knock off of good old Morty and just mouth movement and I can still get a lot of animated movements that work just fine. There are a lot of good resources out there for learning vent and the master, Bill DeMar says keep it simple. He tells it like it is. Cheers, Larry Harris Dan,
